- Children in year 3 of primary school and older are invited to begin preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
- Classes will be held every Wednesday from 4.30pm-5.30pm and Saturday morning 11.00am-12pm.
- Applications are invited from older children and are considered on an individual basis.
- Applications are invited from children with special needs. Please contact us to discuss your child’s requirements.
Before children receive their First Holy Communion, they must celebrate their First Reconciliation. This sacrament has a number of different names, including Confession and the Sacrament of Penance and will be celebrated in January for those on the Winter programme, and April for those on the Spring one.
First Holy Communion
We place an important emphasis on children attending Mass regularly as they prepare for their First Holy Communion. This sacrament is all about the Eucharist and so being a part of the celebratory Mass every week is the best way for them to truly understand the importance of the sacrifice Jesus made for us. Therefore we encourage children making this sacrament to also join us on Sundays during the 09:00am Mass for our ‘Children’s Sunday Liturgy’ session.
At the end of their preparation, the First Holy Communion Masses are usually celebrated in May and all the candidates from both semesters will celebrate together over four Masses.
We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic people to train as catechists to help deliver our youth based sacramental programmes. If you would be interested in joining our team please contact enfieldcat [at] rcdow [dot] org [dot] uk
