{"id":1764,"date":"2013-04-25T16:18:20","date_gmt":"2013-04-25T16:18:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/catholicenfield.paj.org.uk\/?page_id=1764"},"modified":"2014-09-23T21:53:02","modified_gmt":"2014-09-23T21:53:02","slug":"marriage","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.catholicenfield.org\/sacraments\/marriage\/","title":{"rendered":"Marriage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marriage is a sacrament of the Church, given by God, and the decision to marry is one of the most important choices of anyone\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>The Church teaches that marriage is a life-long partnership between one man and one woman, established by God and ordered to the well-being of the spouses and to the procreation and education of children.<\/p>\n<p>When asking to be married in the Catholic Church you are accepting the Christian and Catholic understanding of marriage:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Marriage is an exclusive and indissoluble union.<\/li>\n<li>Spouses have an obligation to one another of faithfulness, mutual love and support.<\/li>\n<li>Spouses must be open to the possibility that God will bless their marriage with children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A marriage is formed when a man and a woman freely and irrevocably give and accept one another as husband and wife, according to the rites and laws of the Church. God joins the spouses together in an irrevocable covenant, and gives them His grace to help them love one another and be open to the possibility of having a family.<\/p>\n<h2>Notice for Marriage<\/h2>\n<p>The Catholic Church requires a minimum of<strong> six months&#8217; notice<\/strong> to arrange and prepare a couple for marriage.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Choosing a Date<\/h2>\n<p>Setting a date for your wedding ceremony is always done in consultation with the priest. This is a busy parish, so it is best to contact one of the priests as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Weddings in our parish are always held on <strong>Saturdays<\/strong> at either <strong>1.30pm<\/strong> or <strong>3.30pm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class='th_notification notification_info_tiny' >Please contact Reception during office hours and ask to speak to one of the priests of the parish.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Marrying Elsewhere<\/h2>\n<div class='th_notification notification_warning_tiny' >If you live in this parish but wish to marry elsewhere, you must still contact one of the priests.
