The criteria for both is set out below:<\/p>\n<h3>September 2023 \u2013 Applications are now closed<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Children in\u00a0<strong>primary school<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>years 5-6 <\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>secondary school<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>years 7-9\u00a0<\/strong>are invited to begin preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Applications are invited from children with special needs. Please contact us to discuss your child\u2019s requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>January 2024 \u2013 Applications are now closed<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Children in\u00a0<strong>primary school years 3 &amp; 4 \u00a0<\/strong>are invited to begin preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Applications are invited from children with special needs. Please contact us to discuss your child\u2019s requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>First Reconciliation<\/h2>\n<p>Before children receive their First Holy Communion, they must celebrate their First Reconciliation. This sacrament has a number of different names, including Confession and\u00a0the Sacrament of Penance and will be celebrated in December for our first intake (older children) and February for our second intake (children in primary school year 3&amp;4)<\/p>\n<h2>First Holy Communion<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">We place an important emphasis on children attending mass regularly as they prepare for their First Holy Communion. This sacrament is all about the Eucharist and so being a part of the celebratory mass every week is the best way for them to truly understand the importance of the sacrifice Jesus made for us. Therefore we encourage children making this sacrament to also join as on Sundays during the 09:00am mass for our \u2018Children\u2019s Sunday Liturgy\u2019 session.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">For more information about the application process please contact the Catechetical Coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic people to train as catechists to help deliver our youth based sacramental programmes.
