The Church believes and confesses that among the seven sacraments there is one especially intended to strengthen those who are being tried by illness: the Anointing of the Sick.

By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.

Second Vatican Council, Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, 11

Anyone in danger through sickness or age can ask for the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.

In an emergency, when death is imminent, phone the Presbytery at any time.

Hospital

If you are going into hospital, or you know of a Catholic in hospital, please inform one of the priests.

We also have two teams of extraordinary ministers of the Eucharistic who visit Chase Farm Hospital on Thursdays and Sundays.
